Bridge Construction Update – May 8, 2026
The NC Department of Transportation will place bridge girders over Silvermine Road on May 8, 2026, beginning around 11:00 a.m. and continuing until approximately 5:00 p.m.
• Silvermine Road will have temporary traffic stoppages (up to 15 minutes at a time) during girder placement
• U.S. 25/70 will also experience longer, intermittent traffic delays
• Pedestrians and Appalachian Trail hikers may encounter short delays of up to 15 minutes
These temporary stoppages are necessary to ensure public and worker safety during construction.
